How Anaca steals and launders money

When Anatsa connects to your phone, it starts collecting a lot of financial information such as: B. Bank account information, credit card information, billing information and more. This is done through overlays that appear when one of the targeted banking applications is opened. Instead of just stealing and sharing information, Anatsa runs a scam right on your device by launching a banking app and making transactions. All of the stolen money is then converted into cryptocurrency and returned to the hackers after passing through a network of money mules.

Beware of These Malicious PDF Apps and Documents on Android

Security researchers at ThreatFabric have discovered that hackers are using Anatsa to steal credentials used to authorize customers in mobile banking apps and to perform fraudulent device acquisition transactions (DTOs). ThreatFabric has identified five malicious applications that criminals use to rob bank accounts:

What Google is doing to stop Ananias, and why it might not be enough

As already mentioned, all detected malicious applications have been removed from Google Play, and the developers have been blocked. Google took action after receiving notification from ThreatFabric. In addition, Google Play Protect, the built-in malware protection for Android devices, automatically removes known malware. However, it should be noted that Google Play Protect may not be enough. In the past, removal of all known malware from Android devices was not 100% guaranteed.

Install a good antivirus program on all your devices

I recommend disabling Google Play Protect to prevent your data from being compromised. As we all know, free is not always good, especially when it comes to antivirus. You can protect your devices from hackers if you have a good antivirus program installed. Using an antivirus program on your devices will ensure that you do not click on potentially malicious links that could install malware on your devices and give hackers access to your personal information.
