Samsung Sustains STEM Learning With P1.5M Innovation Contest
The local education sector needs all kinds of support to improve science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education in the country.
So far, the response from the private sector has been a welcome development, expressing its support for training in STEM and producing qualified Filipino students.
For example, Samsung Phils, a global technology conglomerate based in Korea, is expanding its efforts to support young Filipino innovators by launching the world-renowned Choose Tomorrow education program.
In partnership with the Department of Education, Sove for Tomorrow is an innovation competition that encourages critical thinking, creative problem solving and teamwork to promote innovative social ideas that address pressing social issues.
Since its global launch in 2010, Solve for Tomorrow has enabled students around the world to turn their ideas into practical solutions. It is about empowering STEM students to share and apply their ideas to solve societal challenges while impacting their local communities.
The competition provides a unique learning experience that allows participants to apply their STEM knowledge and gain valuable skills along the way. As of 2020, Samsung Phils. The corporate social responsibility program has benefited more than 2 million people by 2023 and reached more than 50 markets, including the Philippines.

In the Philippines' first participation in PISA 2018, Filipino students ranked lowest among 79 countries in reading comprehension and second in math and science literacy.
