TL;DR
- Samsung has introduced a new zoom feature that takes advantage of the AI capabilities of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
- Samsung's new zoom feature lets you take close-up images, record full-size videos, and track objects simultaneously.
- This feature is designed specifically for the company's 200 megapixel camera.
This week, Qualcomm held its Snapdragon Summit, where they announced the AI-powered Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. One of the first phones to receive the new processor is the Galaxy S24 series. Now Samsung has introduced an impressive new upgrade feature that will take advantage of the chip's AI capabilities.
In blog posts and YouTube videos, Samsung announced new features it is working on. Called ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace, this feature uses the company's 200-megapixel camera to capture close-up and full-frame video simultaneously. Depending on the technology giant, both the full screen area and the enlarged area can be recorded in 4K.
In addition to dual recording, this feature will be able to use artificial intelligence to track objects and stabilize photos. As Samsung explains on its website:
Until now, users had to focus independently on moving subjects while recording video. But with ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace, the camera finds and follows fast-moving subjects, ensuring you don't get lost in the frame. Additionally, videos can be recorded with less screen vibration. Since ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace handles tasks related to tracking moving objects, you can enjoy the view in front of you with your own eyes.
This means that whatever your photography skills, subjects out of frame can be a thing of the past. Samsung will allow users to zoom 2x or even 4x without any noticeable drop in quality or change in angle.
This feature is similar to Google's Zoom Enhance feature that the company announced at the Pixel 8 event. However, this feature only uses AI to sharpen focus and enhance details in zoomed photos.
