28 Music Festivals Coming To Southern California In 2024

In 2023, Southern California will host some of the largest music festivals in the world.

From the iconic mix of genres at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, a variety of country performances at Stagecoach, reggaeton and Latin trap at the Baja Beach Fest in Rosarito Beach, the spring and fall CRSSD Fest in Waterfront Park, Latin music at Bèsame Mucho, new wave rhythms of Cruel World, San Diego Smooth Jazz Festival at The Shell, the DIY spirit of Viva! Pomona, the debut of the Rolling Loud hip-hop festival in Inglewood and the final year of Wild Horses, which will take place Dec. 30 at Petco Park, mark another big year for music festivals.

It looks much bigger and better. Whether your heart desires metal, alternative rock, country, techno, new wave, punk, Latin pop and smooth jazz, there's something on the list to satisfy every musical taste.

Here's a list of music festivals coming to Southern California in 2024. Some events may only have dates and locations, but check the official websites.

FEBRUARY

Californian vibes

The three-day reggae, rock and hip-hop music festival will feature performances by Gwen Stefani, Rebelution and Sublime With Rome, who will perform their album 40 Ounces to Freedom in its entirety. Other artists include Shaggy, Sean Paul, Sojo, Common Kings, The Interrupters, Too Short, Skip Marley, Action Bronson and The Pharcyde.

When : February 16 to 18.

Horizon Festival

Insomniac's techno brand Events Factory 93 and house music analogue Day Trip come together to merge the two genres. The line-up has not yet been announced, but last year included artists Dom Dolla, Meduza, Eli & Fur, Peggy Gou, Michael Bibi, Anotr, Diplo, Joshwa, Charlotte De Witte, Joseph Capriati and Stella Bossi.

When : February 24 and 25.

For the past 16 festivals, CRSSD has been San Diego's largest electronic festival. This year's lineup will include Tale of Us, Black Coffee, Armand Van Helden, Astra Club, Dixon, Loco Dice b2b, Nick Fanciulli, Mochakk, Jeff Mills, Joris Voorn, Richie Hawtin and TRYMe.

Country star Thomas Rhett will headline the day-long Norco Boots in the Park festival, which will also feature performances by Jordan Davis, Mitchell Tenpenny, Parmelee, Tyler Braeden, Presley Tennant and Lewis Lux.

The International Hip Hop Festival returns for its second year with three days of music at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, located near SoFi Stadium. The event will feature Nicki Minaj, Rae Sremmurd, Sexxy Red, YG & Tygga, Post Malone, Suicideboys, Summer Walker, Big Sean, Bones, Flo Milli, Future x Metro Boomin, Don Toliver, Chief Keef and more.

When : March 15 to 17.

The Rise of the Silverado Clover

Los Angeles punk rockers Flogging Molly will celebrate St. Patrick's Day in early 2024 with a one-day festival called Shamrock Rebellion. It will also include sets from Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls, Buzzcocks, Face to Face, Amigo The Devil, NOBRO, Gen and the Degenerates. The event offers tastings from local and regional breweries for ages 21 and up from noon to 3 p.m.

When : March 16

One of Insomniac Events' longest-running festivals will return to its home at the NOS Events Center with a Mad Tea Party theme. The lineup has yet to be announced, but last year fans saw Alan Walker, AC Slater, Borgore, San Holo, Slushii and many more.

When : March 22 and 23.

Boots in Long Beach Park

Boots in the Park will head to Long Beach in 2024 with headliner Lee Brice. He will join Chris Janson, LoCash, Heidi Merrill, Luvis Lux and other artists to be announced in the coming months.

Thomas Rhett will once again headline San Diego's Boots in the Park festival, with support from Lee Brice, Scott McCreary, LoCash, Rhett Akins and Alana Springsteen.

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival

The biggest celebration in the desert will take place in 2024 at the Empire Polo Club in India. While the lineup has not been announced, fans can expect it to be made up of up-and-coming stars and artists. Olivia Rodrigo, a 20-year-old singer who grew up in Temecula, was absent from April 9-30.

When : April 12 to 14 and 19 to 21.

Acoustic bands and soloists will perform for free at nearly two dozen venues along Adams Avenue in San Diego. The cast has not been announced, but previous headliners include Chris Hillman, David Lindley and Dave Alvin.

Beach Life Festival

BeachLife, a three-day festival focused on rock, Americana and reggae, returns to Redondo Beach. The festival will include the popular SpeakEasy stage, where artists will perform stripped-down versions of the music, as well as two main stages, where the music will play continuously throughout the day. The lineup has not been announced, but will be soon.

Mardi Gras San Diego will celebrate its 21st anniversary in May with a lineup first commissioned by veteran festival producer Rich Sherman, who runs Orange County's Omega Events. The lineup includes CJ Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band, Southern Avenue, Marcia Ball, Sonny Landreth, Nikki Hill and Geno Delafose & French Rockin' Boogie.

The Waterfront Music Festival returns after a year-long hiatus, moving from its usual November season to the spring season. The lineup has not been announced, but the three-day event will feature more than 80 artists performing on seven stages. The 2022 cast includes Gwen Stefani, Zac Brown Band and Kings of Leon.

The independent music festival celebrating music from the early 2000s will return to Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The lineup has yet to be announced, but last year's lineup included Empire of the Sun, MGMT, Ladytron, Caribou, Future Islands and Hot Chip.

Joshua Tree Music Festival

This family-friendly musical event takes place twice a year in the Mojave Desert. The four-day festival also includes wellness workshops and yoga classes. Artists announced so far include Fantastic Negrito, Moon Hooch, Telmary & HabanaSana, Madison McFerrin and Q.Varo.

When : May 16 to 19.

Roots Picnic: Hip-hop is the love of my life

Legendary Philadelphia group The Roots celebrated the first fifty years of hip-hop at the Hollywood Bowl with performances by The Roots, Queen Latifah, Common, Digable Planets, Arrested Development, The Pharcyde, Black Sheep and more.

When : June 29

Baja Beach Festival

Since its creation in 2018, this local festival has become one of the largest annual events in North America for fans of reggaeton and Latin trap. This year's lineup has yet to be announced, but past acts include Bad Bunny, Ozuna, J. Balvin, Daddy Yankee, Becky G, Yandel and Grupo Firme de Tijuana.

When: mid-August; date to be confirmed

KAABU Del Mar

After five years of decline and mired in legal disputes, the popular music festival appears to be making a comeback. The 2024 show will take place over three days at the Del Mar Convention Center, where KAABOO performed from 2015 to 2019. No artists have been announced yet, but previous editions have included Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Robert Plant , The Killers, Wu-Clan Tang, Zac Brown Band, Snoop Dogg, Sheryl Crow and Switchfoot.
