Oppo Find N3 Flip sticks to the same design as its predecessor. Instead of going for a widescreen display, the company stuck to a vertical display. But this time, it's more effective. Find N3 Flip is the first flip phone with three cameras. It takes OnePlus' signal slider and offers better dependency than ever. Seems like a big deal, right? That's because, in most cases, it is.
Starting with the flip display, the Oppo Find N3 Flip has a 3.26-inch vertical display. By not opting for a wider aspect ratio, Oppo is allowing it to accommodate a larger battery, which I think is a fair trade-off.
Additionally, the company has worked to make it more efficient. You can now run more apps on the front screen. It supports 45 apps in India, but most of them are not available yet. For now, you can use Google Maps, Gmail, WhatsApp, etc. you get the basics like Although Spotify is not supported, you will get a music player widget if the app is enabled.
I like the overlay screen, but it's still limited and prevents you from launching all the apps you want. This works for me because most of the apps I use daily are supported, but it may not be the same for you. Having a keyboard is great, I've opened the phone for more than just a quick search or a one word message.
But this suits me, because the limited functionality (which still allows you to do a lot of things) allows for a large battery (4300 mAh) and makes its presence felt. Oppo Find N3 Flip is the first flip phone that works for free all day until 6 p.m. This is the best battery life for a flip phone outside of offerings from Samsung, Motorola and Tecno.
I asked Oppo if the Find N2 Flip would receive an update to support these apps on the shutter screen, but the company said it currently has no plans to do so. .
Oppo opted for a bright color on the body of the phone and I'm not a fan of it. I liked the slightly textured finish of the Find N2 Flip. The new finish makes it not only slippery on the table or sofa, but also slippery in the hands. I don't like using a case on my phone, but I would recommend getting a case for this. In other words, the curved edges feel more comfortable in the hand than before.
The heel is sturdy and can hold about 120 degrees at different angles, after which it flattens. It is estimated to last up to 600,000 times, which is 200,000 more than the number officially promised by the Galaxy Z Flip 5. It has an IPX4 rating for splash resistance. That's lower than the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Razer Plus, and means it can withstand a splash, but you'll need to be careful around the tub or pool.
Inside is a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. I want to point out two things here. First, it's a larger screen than the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Razer Plus, bringing it closer to a traditional slate phone experience.
Second, the layer remains insignificant. You can't see it and you can only know it's there when the light hits it at a certain angle. Plus, it's almost imperceptible with your thumb. This is much better than Samsung's horrible wavy situation. The screen is bright and easily visible in direct sunlight.
The Oppo Find N3 Flip is powered by the MediaTek Dimension 9200 SoC, an upgrade from its predecessor's Dimension 9000 chip. It is paired with 12GB of LPDDRx5 RAM and 256GB of UFS4.0 storage. There is also a 512GB variant, but it is not available in India.
I didn't experience any stuttering or lag during daily use. It's also great for multitasking. I love the haptics offered here. The sound wasn't anything to write home about, but it was good for a rotary phone. As mentioned earlier, the Oppo Find N3 Flip has a 4,300mAh battery with 44W fast charging support. It will last all day without heavy usage. When you use it more than usual, you can charge it from zero to 50% in 30 minutes, which is impressive.
Oppo Find N3 Flip is the first flip phone equipped with three cameras. It packs a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 32-megapixel telephoto lens called the "portrait camera" because it only supports 2x optical zoom, but it takes great photos of portrait.
Overall, the cameras capture sharp, detailed images with good dynamic range. Portrait photos are ideal in most situations. Edge detection is decent and bokeh is good, but white balance throws things off when shooting backlit. It supports 20x digital zoom, but images up to 5x can be used for social media. The ultra-wide camera is also good in terms of detail and dynamic range.
Oppo Find N3 Flip runs ColorOS 13.2 based on Android 13. It still comes preinstalled with many apps, but I didn't receive any spam notifications from GetApps or Hot Games. You can delete and ignore notifications from apps you don't like, so it's no big deal
Oppo Find N3 Flip promises four years of Android OS updates, which include Android 14, 15, 16, and 17. This is basically a three-year OS update, as ColorOS based on Android 14 is already in beta, so it is not expected to be updated. be In my opinion, take a year off the promise of a software upgrade. Additionally, Oppo offers five years of support for security updates.
Priced at INR 94,999, the Oppo faces stiff competition from the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Motorola Razr Plus. But it offers a more versatile camera setup, better battery life, better performance, and a great screen with minimal bezels. I still prefer wider frames, but if I get more battery life from the vertical frame, I'm all for it.
