Introduction and specifications
While the Redmi sub-brand is now focusing on mid-range offerings, it hasn't abandoned entry-level series like the Redmi digital series. Redmi 12 is the company's cheapest phone this year and is the successor to the Redmi 10 from 2021. This is because the Redmi 11 was not available last year for some reason, which is probably due to phone sales and stock buildup.
Fast forward to 2023 and now we have the new Redmi 12. or not? A quick scroll through the spec sheet reveals similar specs to the 2021 model, with some modifications. Let's explore!
The new Redmi 12 has a larger 6.79-inch screen, which is one of the largest in its class, and the storage capacity increases to 128 GB in the basic version. That's twice the price of the Redmi 10. Additionally, the Redmi 12 is IP53 certified for dust and splash protection, replaces the plastic back panel with glass, and brings a new, cleaner design to the table.

But before you say that the change is too small for two years of development, here's the real trump card of the Redmi 12. The device comes in a small box with the usual user manuals and a USB-C to USB-A cable for charging and data transfer. There is no charger in the box so if you don't have one you will have to buy it separately. The phone can draw 18W of power, which is something to consider when buying a charger.
