REVIEW: Tecno Spark 10 5G, A Growing Presence In SA

The Tecno Spark 10 5G mainly falls into the entry-to-mid-range segment, but don't let that fool you.

Techno is one of the smartphone brands that has slowly but surely established its presence in South Africa.

Mainly works in the first and middle range. But don't let that fool you: when it comes to his design philosophy, he doesn't take shortcuts.

Spark 10 has a modern and attractive rear panel design; Let's take a look at the modern design styles of Huawei and Honor. At the back there are two large camera modules with a lens and two flashes.

Functions

My review explains that the phone has all the elements you would expect from a smartphone. At the bottom there is a USB-C charger, a single speaker and a headphone jack. The power button and fingerprint sensor combination is on the right side along with the volume buttons. On the left side there are slots for a SIM card and a microSD memory card.

I was a little surprised by the 6.6-inch IPS LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. It's very bright and displays HD content well, which is impressive for this price range.

This 5G phone is powered by an octa-core Mediatek Dimensity 6020 chipset that delivers smooth and fluid performance.

However, the RAM capacity of the Spark 10 5G is limited: only 4 GB. This is noticeable when using apps intensively, as the shutter sound, for example, is delayed for a split second between tapping the camera and recording.

The smartphone has a large 5000mAh battery, which is one of my favorite features. If you take a phone of this size with you, it should have enough charge for a day. And Spark 10 did it with ease.

There's even 18W fast charging, which makes a big difference.

When it comes to photography, I wouldn't recommend the Spark 10 5G as your first choice. Make no mistake, this is a half-decent camera with a 50-megapixel primary sensor on the back that processes motion on demand, coupled with an 8-megapixel front-facing sensor.

The Tecno Spark 10 5G costs R5 499 and is a good price for this segment of the mobile market.

The addition of 5G gives it an edge over devices from other brands, with only Samsung and OPPO supporting the broadband standard in this price range.
