FKA Twigs Teases Upcoming TechnoInfluenced Album: ‘Its Deep But Not Sad
The musician stole material from the entire project after it was previously leaked online.
FKA Twigs changed a lot when she moved to Prague, where she found major techno influences for her next album. In a series of Discord messages, the musician teased the project, which will be her first since Caprisongs 2022. "I moved to Prague a few years ago and fell in love with techno," she writes. "The album isn't techno, but the soul is [definitely] there."
Twigs describes the album's tone as "deep, not sad...I'm not sad anymore". While the announcement of new music is a preview, it's a good development for music. In October, she discovered that a hacker had leaked dozens of her test demos, forcing her to start over. "I got hacked, someone hacked my 85 views," he wrote on Instagram Stories. "Great, no new music for a while."
During an appearance on Discord, Twiggs revealed that she is working closely with British electronic musician Corellus on an upcoming album. She showed one of her collaborations at Paris Fashion Week last year. The musician added that he didn't really listen to music when he was doing music, but he recently became a member of a two-shell band.
With new music on the way, Twigs continues to dominate her storytelling. Last week, Britain's Advertising Standards Authority issued a scathing response to Calvin Klein's ban almost a year ago. "I don't see the 'stereotypical sexual object' that is imposed on me. "I see a beautiful, strong, dark-skinned woman," Twigs shared in a partially nude promotional image of herself.
"Looking at past and present campaigns of this kind, I can't help but feel that there are two levels here. To be clear: I'm proud of my body and I hold onto the art I've created, adhering to the standards of a loving woman. Josephine Baker, Eartha Keith and Grace Jones push boundaries, break boundaries and benefit from unique experiences. Sensitivity.
