Wingstop has a new chief information officer as the chain prepares to switch from Olo to a proprietary online ordering system.
The Dallas-based chain on Thursday named Chris Phelan senior vice president and chief information officer, responsible for technology solutions, IT infrastructure and security for the company's 2,099 restaurant units and businesses.
Fallon was most recently CIO of Fortune Brands Water Innovations and oversaw the Moen and House of Rohl businesses. But he also worked at Starbucks, where he was responsible for store, enterprise, licensing and CPG technology.
"Wingstop's one-stop shop category further reinforces our strategy and vision to advance the technology to digitize all transactions," CEO Michael Skeworth said in a statement. "Having Chris will build on our strong foundation and take our business and restaurant technology solutions to the next level."
Wingstop said digital channels accounted for nearly 67% of sales in the third quarter.
Earlier this year, Wingstop announced plans to phase out Olo's online ordering technology next year and switch to its $50 million My Wingstop system, which has been in place for three years.
"Wingstop is poised for growth and I am excited to join such a dynamic company for the brand," Fallon said in a statement. "Wingstop has proven itself as a technology leader and I look forward to this journey as this great team continues to expand globally."
