Guys, The Android 14 AI Wallpaper Generator Is So Cool. Here Are Some We Made!

Over the past few months, Google has announced new features for Android 14. One of these issues was the focus of the Google I/O conference in May. Davey Burke, VP of Engineering at Android, gave a hands-on demo of a new tool that lets you create creative AI wallpapers.
Essentially, this new tool is like any other generation of tools you've used before. However, Google strategically limits itself to creating images that are appropriately sized for Android wallpapers and optimized for this use case.
In the future, all Android 14 phones should get this device - at least in theory. However, only the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro currently support this feature. When asked, Google said the feature would be available "earlier" for the Pixel 8 series, but the company hasn't confirmed anything beyond that. Android 14 AI Wallpapers: How do they work?

To create such a wallpaper requires a lot of computing power. While we've already seen on-device photo creation on mobile phones, this feature is based on Google's computers. In other words, the image is created by Google outside the device, and you can download what Google created.
Of course, this means you need an active data connection for this to work. However, once you've created a wallpaper, downloaded it, and set it as your background, you won't need a data connection until you want to do something else.
How to create your own AI wallpapers on Android 14

As mentioned earlier, AI wallpaper creation is currently limited to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Google hasn't given a specific launch date on other Google or third-party phones, but we expect it to be released this year. Currently, the following instructions only apply to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
Create AI wallpapers on Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro
- Long press on an empty space on the home screen to open the Wallpaper & Style menu.
- Click on the "More wallpapers" button.
- Select "AI Wallpaper" from the menu at the top.
- Choose a category for the wallpaper (fantasy, mining, picture, etc.).
- Choose a question (according to the style chosen in the previous step).
- Swipe left or right to view options.
- Tap the icon in the top right corner to set your favorite as your phone wallpaper.
