OPPO India Teams Up With The Atal Innovation Mission To Set Up The First PPPmodel Atal Tinkering Lab

New Delhi, July 14: OPPO India announced the launch of Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) as the information partner of the NITI Aayog (AIM) innovation mission in Kerala. This program encourages students to explore, test, and implement projects related to robotics, electronics, and rapid prototyping kits.

The CEHSS Lab at Saint Paul, Kuriachira, Thrissur was inaugurated on 10 July 2023 by Shri Rajiv Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Electronics and Information Technology. The main goal of this initiative is to create a potentially future-ready workforce and develop entrepreneurial and technological skills among young people. By 2022, 10,000 ATLs have been created in 35 states and union territories of India through government subsidies. This partnership marks the creation of the first Atal Tinkering Lab based on a public-private partnership model. Atal Innovation Mission Dr. Chintan Vaishnow, MD, said: “On behalf of the Atal Innovation Mission team, I welcome OPPO to the ATL community. The creation of the first PPP Atal Tinkering Lab in partnership with OPPO India is a major milestone in Indian schools' journey of innovation. With this new ATL peer-to-peer approach, we hope to democratize this skill and make it available to more learners across the country. I am inviting more partners in this new and exciting initiative to build more ATL in India and thereby empower young innovators.” ATL was created to help students in grades 6-12 develop innovative solutions. Students can use advanced technology tools such as 3D printing, the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, miniature electronics, space technology, drone technology, and technical textiles. Mr. Vivek Vasishta, Vice President of Communications at OPPO India, said, “OPPO India is committed to social progress by investing in youth and providing ample learning opportunities. We are excited to launch the first ever Atal Tinkering Lab, offering a state-of-the-art learning ecosystem for future innovators and entrepreneurs. This partnership is part of our efforts to encourage critical thinking and train young students in community problem solving skills. We are proud to contribute to the Government of India's mission of empowering tomorrow's citizens with future-ready skills. This collaboration between AIM and OPPO, in collaboration with the Learning Link Foundation, uses a hub-n-spoke strategy to create an innovative learning environment through hands-on experience and regular training sessions. The Hub Schools ATL will act as a "hub" for students from nearby public schools who will come to the lab for testing. This approach will also help three public schools. “We are very proud to partner with OPPO India and Niti Aayog to create Atal Tinkering Labs. We will work together to create a generation that will contribute to the development and progress of our society,” he said. Through ATL, children with exceptional potential will be identified and nurtured through the Innovative Student Program and the ATL Marathon, as well as prominent entrepreneurs. will be trained and prepared to participate in national/regional competitions that promote lifelong learning. OPPO India has taken active steps to provide children with a better education and inspire them to build a better future through various initiatives. These initiatives include setting up a computer lab at the Round Table School in Varanasi and partnering with Mensa to equip underprivileged children with digital literacy tools OPPO recently partnered with CSC Academy to train 10,000 women from semi-urban and rural India as cybersecurity ambassadors .
