Vivo V27 Pro Brings The Fight To OnePlus 11R With A Better Design
The smartphone market in India is essentially a niche race. Rarely do we see a phone that is designed to hold its own against the competition. But Vivo V27 Pro is one such smartphone.
It has a slim design which makes it the most comfortable phone in this price range, at least for me. It's thin and light, with a color-changing back cover, and has the same 50MP+8MP+2MP rear camera setup as the OnePlus 11R. This is a thin device compared to other phones, so using it with one hand was not difficult. The chipsets are different, but in my experience with both phones, the performance in everyday use is the same.
The Vivo V27 Pro has a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, which is slightly larger than the OnePlus 11R's 6.74-inch display. It supports FHD+ (1080 x 2400) resolution at 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ Widevine L1 certification. It all comes together for a smooth, sharp and vibrant viewing experience. I had no problem viewing the screen in daylight. However, you do get a single bottom speaker, which isn't great. In contrast, the OnePlus 11R offers a superior stereo speaker setup for a better media experience.
Vivo's mid-range phone is powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 8200 chipset paired with 8GB/12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB/256GB UFS 3.1 storage. In everyday use, everything was fine, almost no bugs. It runs applications like Asphalt 9 and runs smoothly. However, stable games can heat up the phone. Vivo V27 Pro is equipped with a 4600mAh battery with support for 66W fast charging from 10% to 100% in 1 hour. It lasts all day with moderate use, but on heavier days, fast charging helps charge the battery faster.
The Vivo V27 Pro has a triple rear camera setup that includes a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-thin sensor, and a 2MP macro camera. It comes with a unique Indian filter designed for Indian weddings to match the color palette.
The main camera is able to take great pictures in bright light. It also captures a lot of detail in the shadows. Portrait mode works well most of the time with edge detection, and night shooting is also above average. On the other hand, the 8MP ultra-wide camera is average at best, and the 2MP macro sensor is useless.
Vivo is working on removing some malware from its FunTouch 13 operating system, which is based on Android 13. It uses the Android Material You theme engine, which allows me to match the screen background with the system's UI color palette. I haven't found a way to use the iManager app, which controls app usage, to check temperatures. The operating system allows you to hide selected photos and videos from the gallery. Overall, FunTouch OS has improved over time and is smoother than ever.
Vivo V27 Pro competes with OnePlus 11R in the sub-Rs 40,000 segment in India. In my experience, it offers the best camera design and setup with average performance and battery life. The starting price is Rs 37,999 which is lower than the OnePlus 11R. If you're looking for a thin and light phone that doesn't weigh down your wrist, the Vivo V27 Pro is the perfect choice.
