There's something magical about a masked DJ. It is as if he does not just play music, but embodies an image or a person. Nobody embodies this idea better than German techno DJ Boris Breich, who has been wearing a Venetian mask for more than a decade. In an industry where DJs are often considered celebrities, Brecha said she wants to focus on music rather than herself.

The mask also serves another purpose. This allows Bracha to take on the character he embodies on stage. As he explained in an interview, “When I wear a mask, I become someone else. It's like a switch that turns on. I'm DJ Boris Brecha. You like two shows in one - one with a mask, a little mystical, and then when I take off the mask in the middle of the concert, it's just Boris Breycha.

The idea of adopting a persona is not new to the music industry. Many artists have used alter egos or stage names to separate their public personas, but Breach went even further by literally putting on a mask. It's not just the mask that makes Break stand out. His music is also unique in the techno world. While many techno DJs focus on beats and rhythm, Brecha incorporates melody and harmony into their tracks.

Bracha's popularity has grown steadily over the years, and he now has a devoted following around the world. He has performed at some of Europe's biggest music festivals including Tomorrowland and Cercle and has released numerous albums and EPs on his own label, Fckng Serious. In April, he released some unreleased songs during his performance at Coachella 2023. He plays two shows at Sunburn Arena - today at DOME, NSCI in Mumbai and tomorrow at Bhartiya Mall in Bangalore.

Breaka's connection to his fans is deeper than most DJs. At the end of the show, he jumps off to share a candid moment with the first passer-by and distributes rubber ducks, which is the hallmark of the Boris Brakhy fandom. She also tries to respond to the countless private messages she receives on Instagram, where she has 2 million followers. “You give your fans something special and they give something special,” she wrote.

Tickets for his concerts in Mumbai and Bangalore can be bought online.
