Genres The Next Minecraft SpinOff Game Could Explore

It has come a long way since its early days of access and now offers dozens of features that make it easy for players to get lost in the procedurally generated game world. Despite its great success, Minecraft is not afraid to experiment. Since its acquisition by Microsoft, Minecraft has expanded into genres outside of its own survival sandbox. While these efforts may not have been as popular as the original, they have made Minecraft a great franchise.
The first Minecraft spin-off, titled Minecraft: Story Mode, was the first attempt to tie a clear story to the series. This point-and-click adventure would be the first step in expanding Minecraft into other video game genres, although it would take a few years to make the second step. Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Legends took the franchise into the dungeon crawler and RTS genres respectively, and the question is which genre will come next. Fortunately for fans, Mojang Studios has a variety of game genres to choose from.

Minecraft 2d platforms
Simple platform elements in Minecraft offer a wide range of movement possibilities. Jumping over a thin column or using a bucket full of water to wash off a large drop, the first game fully showcased its platforming abilities. If Mojang wants to expand Minecraft's platforming capabilities, it could bring the franchise into the realm of 2D platformers. Ubisoft's Rayman Legends can serve as a magical source of inspiration as players take on original characters or their own creations based on the many Minecraft biomes.
Minecraft fighting game
As the Minecraft franchise continues to grow, new characters and enemy types are introduced to keep things fresh. If Mojang is feeling brave, it could collect some of these characters and turn them into a Minecraft fighting game . Although perhaps unlike Mortal Kombat, Minecraft fighting games can serve as an accessible entry point for younger players or those unfamiliar with the genre. Minecraft Legends has established itself as a great RTS game for beginners, and finding a game in the action genre shows Mojang's seemingly limitless versatility.
Minecraft city building
Building is at the heart of Minecraft's gameplay philosophy . From tiny cottages to mansions, players are encouraged to unleash their creativity and create whatever their hearts desire. This same dedication to creativity is at the heart of the city-building genre, of which Minecraft can be a huge offshoot. Players can be tasked with building new villages, as well as creating homes and businesses for the villagers and other characters. It can also serve as an entry-level game for the genre, allowing players to dabble in franchises like Cities: Skylines as they gain experience.
Minecraft, by its very nature, has always been about giving players blank text to do anything. This gives developers equal freedom to find their own spin, as Minecraft's amorphousness allows game skins and game systems to seamlessly translate into any genre. Although the spin-off process may not be as timeless as the original, its success proved just how powerful the Minecraft title is. Regardless of the franchise, it has the potential to once again show gamers that Mojang is one of the most versatile developers of the past decade.
