From OPM classics to Thai indie electronica, the best techno and new Filipino bands you won't forget. Here's what the music scene looks like next week and we can't wait to see it all.
Here are 10 must-see concerts in Manila this week.
1. Army Millar, “12 Monkeys,” Pasig City, February 9
Army Millar will perform a concert on February 9th.
The former UDD singer will release solo music in 2023. His latest single “Roots” was released in October 2023, other songs include “Kapit,” “Lykkelig” and “Somewhere in Between.”
His first solo album, South Note, will be released this year.
Gabriel Lazaro, DJ Mario Serrano and Dino Amparo will join us on Friday.
The concert will be held at 12 Monkeys, Ground Floor, Estancia Mall, Capitol Commons, Pasig City at 9:00 p.m. The entrance fee is 600 pesos. For table reservations and inquiries, contact 12 Monkeys at 0917-570-3222.
2. Jason Duckal City Tour, Quezon City, February 9
Who remembers Jason Ducale's Para Sa Akin cover?
In the year
Jason has no special guests other than the Queen of Bossanova and original “Para Sa Akin” hitmaker City.
Jason released his latest album BEING in September 2023. Some of his best songs include “Body & Soul,” “Lifetime (Dimension),” and a rendition of the hot dog classic “Manila.”
Ticket details for Jason's tour have yet to be announced.
3rd Night at Yellow Room, 19 East, Parañaque City, February 9th.
Some of OPM's most well-known artists have performed at the popular music venue.
The first Yellow Room Night Concert with Yellow Room music artists Mayonnaise, SUD, Mojofly, Night Over Alaska, JULIA DANIEL, LEILA and NaÏV.
Yellow Room Night will be held on February 9th at 8:00 p.m. at 19 East Sucat, Parañaque City. The price of one door is 300 pesos.
4. Bob Marley Day, Balcony Music House, Makati City, February 10.
Come and feel good on Bob Marley Day on February 6 to celebrate the late musician's birthday.
Bands and solo artists from all over the Philippines will pay tribute to the reggae superstar. The evening's headliners will be Epotts from Leyte and Uplifter from Mindoro.
The group includes Coffee Break Island, Colli Herb Music, Host Jam PH, Jah Dela Cruz, Mistress 1, Reggae Mistress, Sunflower Day Camp and Sedaka Root.
Bob Marley Day on February 10 at Balcony Music House, Singian & Molina, Barangay Poblacion, Makati City, 7:00 PM ET. The initial entry price is 500 pesos, the entrance fee is 700 pesos. Payment details can be found on the Balcony Music House Facebook page.
5. Bleeding Hearts from the Grave, Quezon City, February 10.
This year's first cemetery has a killer lineup.
For a Valentine's Day release, BLEEDING HEARTS, a newly formed rave and concert production company, has assembled a lineup of Filipino artists you'll never forget.
They are: KINDRED, Pet Shabu, SCRY, fr:wn, ///sliwrist, MHLO, Loner, christal, mat jamal, Bedspacer, Avant Garden and FakeShow.
Music lovers are recommended to wear pink and red colors. But in keeping with the cemetery style, black is also recommended.
The funeral will be held on February 10 at The Paper Lantern, Mow's, 20 Matalino Street, Diliman, Quezon City. Doors open at 7 p.m. and close at 3 p.m. The initial entry fee is 300 pesos, the entrance fee is 350 pesos. Advance ticket sales are possible via Google Forms.
6. Sasavan H. 2, Parañaque, February 10
Even if you're not from the south, you'll feel right at home at Sinning Shelter. And everything is ready for the first concert this year.
Sasavan Vol. 2 will be an evening of live music, art, giveaways and even a raffle.
The set features some of OPM's current artists: Halina, Carousel Damage, Cowboy Country Club, See You Around the World and Where's Ramona.
The artists also plan to sell their works.
Sasavan Vol. 2 will be held on February 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sinning Shelter, 4183 Sun Valley Drive, Paranaque City. Early bird tickets are priced at P300 and ticket holders will receive two raffle tickets while the entry fee is P350 per raffle entry. 7. Sadomasodizko, Makati, February 10.
Sadomaso Disco returns with a special New Year's celebration.
One of Manila's leading parties has reclaimed power in Seltzam Makati City. The event promises an evening of dancing with Taipei-based American DJ Pokari Lab. He is joined by Greta, Ezri, Pat Shabu, Limsum and Leo.
Sadomaso Disco will be held at Selsam Rooftop, Gervasia Building, 152 Amosolo Street, Legazpi Village, Makati City at 8:00 p.m. The entry price is initially 800 AMD, at the box office 1000 AMD.
8. SCRUBB Live in Manila, Mandaluyong, February 10.
SCRUBB will perform for the first time in the Philippines on February 10th.
Thai indie electronic duo Thawatpon Wongbonsiri and Torpong Chantabubfa are known for their hits “Everything,” “Close,” “Together,” “Click,” and “Smile.”
Ilia Kanlas and Tony Jay opened the show.
SCRUBB Live in Manila will be held on February 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Block 123, 312 Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City. Ticket prices range from P1,800 for general admission to P5,200 for SVIP.
9. Unknown: 8 years, February 10.
UNKNWN.8Years is celebrating the anniversary by hosting the best techno gatherings in the Philippines, with a party of course!
Electronic mixes on board by Tarsius Manila, Ornusa, Amaury Brooker, Emel Rowe, XI, JAV/, Mikko Santos and Samantha Nicole.
UNKNWN.8years begins on February 10th at 3:00 p.m., location to be announced later. Ticket price: 1788 rubles.
10. JXP Valentine's Day Special, Quezon City, February 10.
At Jess x Pats, Valentine's Day is coming early.
A love festival will take place at the Creative Center on February 10th. Bicolana singer-songwriter Dwta entertains fans with a gentle and catchy melody, OPM pop-rock legend Ang Bang Shirley brings the audience to their feet.
JXP's special Valentine's Day event will be held at Jess & Pat's Restaurant 63 Maginhawa, Quezon City on February 10 at 6:00 p.m. The entrance fee is 400 pesos.
