House And Techno Tastemaker Paige Talks ‘Touch, Spirituality, Positivity And Mindset
When Page leaves the ship, it's more than just a musical journey. It is an inspiration in its own world.
Commonly known as John Page, the tastemaker, producer and DJ has an innate ability to combine all styles of techno and house music with melodic beats, afro-house and organic rhythms to create an unforgettable sound. and joy.
On Friday, January 12, the sound engineer wowed audiophiles with "Touch (feat. Aaron Pfeiffer)" at LUSH Sunday.
The song features beautiful, swirling and shimmering synths, swinging and booming bass lines, haunting lyrics, hypnotic vocals, Pfeffer's haunting high lines and more. The track definitely sounds like an anthem designed to get people on the dance floor.
Tulum-based producer Page said he spent the summer working with various singers via Zoom, including Miami Pfeiffer, who gave Light's vocals a "different way to control the beauty." He added that Ibiza is a hub for new music, pool parties, daytime events and a vibrant night scene. While within this rhythm, the sense of emotion and space helped him create a record that fits the island's tech house scene, away from the usual jungle-like, Tulum-influenced sound.
Moreover, unlike many other music creators, he said that while he was in Ibiza, he worked around the clock. Paige said her grandfather was a musician and her father was a disco artist. His advice about music is, “It's a business. It is a profession. You create art for the world. Take it seriously. As a result, the producer works during the day and says he finds the most creative place to create music in the sunny and nature-filled atmosphere of Tulum.
"I think one of the most important things about moving to Tulum is to be honest and find yourself," the singer said. “I became healthier, happier and more spiritual along the way. That's what drives everything I do now—it comes from a place of love and authenticity.”
This, of course, is what it does when the page is scrolling. Thanks to his father, he grew up listening to disco music and later discovered house music when his older cousin played Louis DeVito's NYC Underground Party CD in his car.
"When I heard that music, I felt alive," Page said. “I got into it from then on because it was a very natural transition from disco to dance music. [Dance music] has the same tempos, the same drums and a lot of other similarities [from disco]. It was a life changing CD that I had to listen to because I was into nightclubs and everything. Thanks for that, Louis DeVito.
However, it wasn't until he attended his first tour that he realized DJing and producing was his calling.
"When I went on my first real tour in New York, it changed my life," Pai said. “I know it's cliché, but you walked into this big, dark warehouse with amazing music and all walks of life, and everyone was there to let loose and be free. From then on I realized that it was my job to create a safe space, to take people on a musical journey, to let go, to celebrate life, to have fun, to be in the moment, to make friends and to make friends. Memories. It's more than just songs. It's a journey to the game of your choice to create an evening for everyone."
After being introduced to DJing and producing in the dance music scene, he hasn't slowed down. Page has performed at world famous clubs such as Brooklyn Mirage in New York, Knockdown Center in Queens, New York, Concourse Project in New York, Austin, Concourse Project and AME in Brazil. He has also played with talented musicians such as Nora En Pure, Cassian, Time Agents Of Time, Yotto, Argy, Hernan Cattaneo and Meduza. His songs have been recorded by popular labels such as Clean, Odd Out and SHÈN. In addition, his 2023 hit "Heavy Heat," a collaboration with Frankie Wah and Jim Cooke, has attracted the attention of DJs, fans and radio hosts such as BBC Radio 1's Danny Howard, KISS FM and SiriusXM Chill. No doubt, the beat maker has an impressive resume to date.
The music legend recently took his career a step further by launching his own label, Lush Sunday. Owning your own label like Page is a "dream" for many artists because it allows you to have a creative outlet where you are in control. You can set the direction. You can create releases. Do good is an inspiration." He says that sometimes music programs don't allow a producer to release as much as he wants on a particular label, and artists only release a limited number of tracks a year. She also hopes that LUSH SUNDAY will support emerging artists.
“I'm very proud to release what I think is the best of the moment and to give great artists a platform to release music. The world needs to hear more great artists. I really want them to have that opportunity," says the singer. "It's more than a music label because I want to collaborate with artists, painters, jewelers and people who create custom hats and furniture."
LUSH's Sunday launch coincides with the launch of a new hybrid range called PORTAL. Always on BBC Radio 1 with Pete Tong, inspired by the Essential Mix album, Page added that the Radio Mix series featured the world's biggest talent as well as emerging artists, "bringing it all together to create a mash." It was something timeless and truly original." Page plans to do his own Pete Tong mixtape with PORTAL, which talks about Page's project and other producers' projects. The listener "In Deeper Waters . He wants to send. What they feel inside." Adds the label executive: "When that happens, you see that the song could be 10 years or two days old. It's really magic created by the artist."
A series of releases and mixes aim to transport the listener to a jungle party, cenote or beach club with Tulum's sound, energy and substance, deep and melodic, incorporating organic and traditional influences.
The vocal creator is interested in the spirituality, positivity and thinking that she believes connects with music. Page says: “We all get away with the frequency that people do, and music is just a vibration. If you can make music that resonates with you, it will vibrate positively for other beings. So when you're into a music session for happiness, love, fun and good vibes or creating a playlist for a DJ set, create and present it to your party. The vibe you give off when you're at an event or listening to music is absolutely infectious. When you leave a concert or a nightclub and it has a positive effect on you, you take it with you forever.
Spirituality, positivity and thinking are also the main elements of his personal life. Paige considered herself a healthy person while living in New York, but says moving to Tulum gave her the space and opportunity to pursue these three passions. He says he starts his mornings with 30 minutes of sunshine and fresh water, meditation, journaling, exercise, and finally making music. The site mentions that there are many yoga and meditation teachers in Tulum. But, she says, it's important to examine what makes someone feel bad. By learning the advantages and disadvantages, one can reveal "their true strength and the true nature of a person."
"I think the more you feel on the inside, the more love you feel on the inside and the more you give to love on the outside," she said. “Indeed, this is the true essence of life - ruling with love. Because without it, we have nothing."
While she says it's good for health, she says it's hard, but the biggest hurdle is self-love. For her, self-love has a deeper meaning than some might think. For one producer, it means loving yourself "with all your true love." As a partner, friend, family member and DJ, Paige describes him as "loving yourself in a way that's not external, but you want to give your best and give it your all." "Perhaps you are satisfied with what you have not yet done."
What's next: “Music is a very difficult path and career choice because it all depends on you. I want creative people to know that I do my best to represent the art of others, including myself, and promote the dance industry to great music, great artists [and vision]. Maybe a wellness retreat, maybe a dance event, maybe a beautiful market with dance music [and] all my favorite artists selling their best. The vision is big and I want to invite everyone who is happy with this to meet me because there is no "I" in music, there is no "I" in the group. Without "we" we have nothing.
