When Is Galaxy Unpacked? Samsung Event Revealed
According to the leaked trailer, Samsung Galaxy Unpacked, where we will see the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S24 family, will be held on January 18 in Seoul, South Korea.
This was reported by veteran technology expert Evan Blass, also known as evleaks.
So the Samsung event will start at 3am KST on January 17th at 6pm KST in the UK.
You can finish your work, relax with a cup of tea and see what Galaxy AI is all about.
The emphasis on the term "Galaxy AI" in the invitation suggests that this will be the main theme of the presentation. It is expected to include the Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra phones.
What is Samsung Galaxy AI?
Back in November, Samsung published an article about Galaxy AI as a "summary" of what's to come.
"Galaxy AI is our most comprehensive intelligent offering to date and will forever change the way we think about our phones," said Wonjun Choi, head of research and development, Samsung Mobile eXperience Business.
One example we've already heard about is the AI Live Translate challenge.
"Audio and text translations will appear in real-time as you speak, making calling someone in another language as easy as turning on subtitles while streaming," Samsung said.
It sounds good, but it's also a natural evolution of translation and speech synthesis, which existed long before anything was called "AI."
Evan Blass has also published what appear to be the full specifications of the new Galaxy S24 phones.
This helps explain why AI will be in the spotlight, as many of the key stats about the Samsung Galaxy S24 family are fairly familiar.
Features of Samsung Galaxy S24
The leaked specs suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S24 will have a 50-megapixel camera and a 6.2-inch display, which is slightly larger than the Galaxy S23's 6.1-inch display. The battery capacity is also slightly larger: from 4000 mAh to 3900 mAh. And on the back are the familiar triple cameras.
Going one step further, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ will have a 6.7-inch display with a higher QHD+ resolution and faster charging. It will reach 65% battery charge in 30 minutes, which is not great among modern phones.
The high-end Galaxy S24 Ultra supports Samsung's S-Pen stylus and replaces the aluminum sides with titanium ones. Titanium is a very light, strong and expensive metal used by Apple in the iPhone 15 Pro phones.
The Samsung Ultra series also has more cameras than the lower tiers and what Samsung calls four telephoto lenses. Four zoom cameras might seem like it, but it's not. 2X, 3X, 5X, and 10X views include original and digitally enhanced fields of view.
It could also mean downgrading the Galaxy S23 Ultra to 3x and 5x zoom lenses instead of the 3x and 10x zoom offered by the Ultra today.
However, all these details won't be confirmed until Samsung Unpacked is released.
