Daft_Vader's amazing Tooniverse texture pack may make you feel like you're playing a new game, but it still contains all the Minecraft elements you know and love, just with a new face. Literally. Just look at the beautiful sun in the cover photo above. Fluffy clouds (no shadows!), rainbows, and glowing eyes give this texture pack a really fun look, and it works best without shadows, so it doesn't even put a lot of stress on your system.

If you want slightly lower resolution textures, you're in luck, as there are four separate Tooniverse downloads of varying sizes. You can support Daft_Vader by buying the 64x, 128x or 256x packs or the full pack. It's hard to know where to start with one of our all-time favorite Minecraft texture packs, Better Vanilla Building. Updated biome-specific mobs, including the new pigs, pastel cows, and coral skeletons you see above. Subtle vanilla textures like dense plants or flowering trees. Or could it be textures grouped together?

Yes, with the base pack installed, you can just enjoy the changed textures around you, or you can choose different textures to create something completely new, like colorful red stone lamps or terracotta walls decorated with gold. But that's not all, because you can also rename armor, elytra, weapons and more to change your items and give them a completely new and unique look. This is a texture pack that does it all.

True to its name, Stay True stays relatively true to the original vanilla textures, keeping a similar color palette, mob design, and blocky interfaces. However, the changes are perfect for those who don't want to stray too far from the original and still see a noticeable difference. Look at the leaves of these bushy trees, the details of these flowers and the brown leaves of the birch. You can also turn off the thick notes if you want it closer to vanilla.

RetroNES:

Let's go back in time with this Minecraft texture pack. RetroNES is one of the coolest resource packs on the market, with a carefully designed vintage color palette and vibrant black outlines that make you feel like you've stepped into Mario's world. The original artist stopped working on it some time ago, but thankfully it was recently revived and updated with version 1.19. However, if you want it to come with the retro audio pack, you'll have to stick with version 1.8.

Jiklus

At first glance, the Jicplus texture pack doesn't look that different from the standard Minecraft look. It seems that things have warmed up and something is wrong. However, upon closer inspection, you'll notice reworked mobs, detailed branches, and subtle touches like the different shades of pumpkin shown above. There is a smooth hotkey and other characters that provide a great RPG style. The minerals are brighter, the lava is brighter, and it's all reflected on the ground, as well as the Bottom and the End. If you want your Minecraft farm to look a little different, whether it's cropland or grass, this is a good texture pack to add a little more life .

Fabulous

Latest version: 1.20

With a similar old-school style menu and Jicplus font at the top, Mythic is another great texture pack for darker fantasy atmospheres. What it does, however, is more obvious, with one notable difference from base Minecraft everywhere. As you can see in the image above, the main change in Mythic has to do with the mobs you can encounter along the way, making them a bit... tougher. The colors are deeper and the flowers are rougher, making Mythic the perfect rural texture pack for dark Minecraft.

How to set a texture for minecraft

Not sure how to download and install one of these new texture packs? No problem; We can help you with that. Ever since Minecraft came out, it's been a lot easier to install Minecraft texture packs and get them working with minimal hassle.

How to download and install texture packs for Minecraft:

  • Download the texture pack you want.
  • Open the Minecraft launcher.
  • Make sure you choose the latest stable version of Minecraft Java (not one of the Minecraft betas called "Snapshots").
  • Click here to play Minecraft.
  • From the main menu, select Options.
  • Then go to the Resource Packs section.
  • Now click "Open package folder".
  • Place the texture packs you just downloaded into a folder. It works in a ZIP or unzipped file.
  • Select them in the game by dragging them to the right column.
  • Change the order of the additional packages so that they download in the correct order, and then click Finish.

Not all texture packs work on the latest version of Minecraft Java Edition, but you can check the latest supported version on the corresponding download page. If you want to use some of the best texture packs, you'll need to go back to a previous version of Minecraft, which you can easily do with the launcher. We usually install some older versions of Minecraft for highly modded games. Fortunately, this is not hardware damage.
