Samsung Display Is About To Begin Work On Apples First Foldable Screens

It's been several years since we heard rumors of Apple's exit strategy. While Samsung, Motorola and other brands are already selling sophisticated devices, Cupertino decided to go further and wait for the development of this technology.

This complex product from Apple could be an iPhone or an iPad/MacBook hybrid. But for now, all we know is that the release is at least a few years away, so nothing is concrete at the moment.

However, even though Apple's complex product isn't even close to being released, that doesn't mean Apple and its manufacturers aren't working hard to get the product out as soon as possible. According to a recent report from Korean publication The Elec, Samsung is reorganizing its teams in response to Apple's initiatives to create complex models.

According to the publication, the South Korean manufacturer wants to find a new source of income. Despite its leadership in OLED panel manufacturing, Samsung is keen to secure Apple's orders for future complex products as Samsung and LG work on designs for Apple's complex products, including 20.25-inch panels.

Various reports from DSCC , Bloomberg and Omdia have confirmed the arrival of the new device. Apple is believed to be working on a sophisticated iPad/MacBook hybrid with a 20-inch display. The latter stated that this device could be released by 2026.

In 2022, DSCC's Ross Young reported that suppliers were in talks with Apple to create a 20-inch foldable device. The idea was to combine the usability of a laptop with the simple screen you see on an iPad. Yang went so far as to say that the foldable MacBook Hybrid could serve as a dual-use product. It can function as a laptop with a full-size keyboard, but also as a standalone monitor when folded or when not in use with an external keyboard. Yang also said that the device could have 4K or higher resolution.

Mark Gurman later confirmed Young's reports in his newsletter Power On . He said Apple could very well use a 20-inch foldable display with a physical keyboard or a virtual keyboard on one side of the foldable display while the company explores dual-screen options.

Cupertino's first integrated product is still a few years away, but it's no longer a matter of if, but when.
