New Samsung Leaks Reveal Stunning Galaxy S24 Ultra Design Decision
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will be the flagship smartphone of 2024 when it launches early next year. Now we know how this flagship laptop compares to its powerful predecessor.
An image comparing the current flagship Galaxy phone, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, to its much-anticipated successor has surfaced recently. The general formula for Samsung's larger screen smartphones remains the same, but the evolution of the Ultra line is clear.
The first changes can be seen in the S-Pen storage area. Samsung introduced the new S-Pen stylus with the Galaxy S24 Ultra. While it's expected to work with other Galaxy devices, the inclusion of an in-body storage unit reinforces the idea that the Galaxy S and S-Pen are meant to work together.
The top of the new S-Pen barrel is less rounded than before, which means that the pen now lines up with the edge of the Galaxy S24, reducing unwanted friction.
Then there are the speaker grills. In the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the bottom speaker is hidden behind six small holes on the body; The Galaxy S24 Ultra has gone to someone. This seems to be more of an aesthetic decision than a practical one (the S24 Ultra continues to match the S23 Ultra's IP68 rating). I'm excited to see if this aesthetic continues with the new phones.
Finally you have the volume buttons. It's often overlooked2, but the external switches and buttons on any smartphone make a huge contribution to the phone's tactile experience. Buttons in awkward places or little physical feedback can hurt perception. So it is worth noting that Samsung has changed the size of the eyelashes and made them a little wider and thicker.
What you may not immediately notice is that Samsung has switched to a titanium body, which reduces the overall weight of the phone and increases its strength. Although Apple took the lead with the iPhone 15 Pro considering the time it takes to develop and certify a new phone, Samsung decided to switch to titanium before Apple announced it.
The Galaxy S24 family, including the S24 Ultra and the S-Pen, will be unveiled in early 2024 at a "Galaxy Unpacked" event expected to take place on January 17.
