The GTA 6 trailer was released on YouTube on December 5th after years of announcements, rumors and leaks. There were some doubts about the viewership of the game trailer and people thought that the trailer would not get many views.
However, to refute their speculations, the GTA 6 trailer received record reviews. Since its release, it has now received over 100 million views on YouTube.
This number is much higher than the views of the GTA 5 trailer since its release 12 years ago. And that's not all: the number of views is higher than any other video since its release.
Now, before the gameplay trailer, there are only two videos with the most views in such a short time. It was a video from BTS, the world famous Korean K-pop boy group.
We all know how popular this Korean K-pop group is and its members are famous all over the world. Both videos have more views than the GTA 6 trailers called Dynamite and Butter.
Dynamite is a BTS song released in August 2020 that received 101.1 million views in the first 24 hours. Next is the video for the song Butter, which was released in May 2021 and received 108 million views in the first 24 hours.
Prior to the release of the GTA 6 trailer, another video from K-pop group BLACKPINK took third place. It was released in June 2020 and was viewed over 86 million times within 24 hours.
However, the third place is now occupied by the GTA 6 trailer, which was viewed more than 91 million times in 24 hours. So we see the popularity of GTA 6 which definitely makes it the most anticipated GTA game.
This viewership could have been higher had the recent leaks not ruined the trailer. Therefore, the game studio had to release the trailer earlier than expected, when night had already fallen in Europe and the Middle East.
This will definitely impact the trailer's viewership otherwise we may see record results. However, the GTA 6 trailer did a good job of making it clear how many players are waiting for the game.
