Tecno, Infinix, Apple FastestGrowing Smartphone Brands In Southeast Asia
(MENAFN-IANS) New Delhi, Nov 11 (IANS) Smartphone shipments in Southeast Asia fell 2% year-on-year, but rose 3% in the third quarter, indicating a recovery in demand of smartphones.
According to Counterpoint Research, Tecno, Infinix and Apple were the fastest growing brands during the quarter.
Samsung is the market leader with a 21 percent share, followed by Xiaomi (17 percent) and OPPO (15 percent).
5G smartphones accounted for 36% of total shipments in the region.
Despite this trend, Apple's shipments increased 19% from the previous quarter. According to the report, Apple continues to see strong demand for the iPhone 13 and 14 series, fueling demand for the recently introduced 15 series.
“SEA remains an important market for the technology ecosystem as it is underdeveloped in many areas such as online banking, e-wallet usage, online shopping and general internet usage” , did he declare.
Other major SEA countries, such as the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam, have seen significant year-on-year growth in smartphone shipments to Indonesia and Thailand.
Xiaomi's shipments increased by 7 percent. The Redmi 12 series performed well in all major Southeast Asian countries.
The conversions segment saw the highest growth in the quarter. Infinix grew 42% year-on-year, Tecno 148% and Itel 17%.
Infinix and Tecno offer solid core specifications along with a diverse lineup.
“Samsung and Xiaomi have managed to outsell their models in all major SEA countries, by continuing to launch new models in their price range compared to the limited capabilities of brands like OPPO and Vivo,” said the senior analyst Glenn Cardoza.
