Artist Spotlight: Idioteque Continues To Push Boundaries
Across the Pond London hosts *Idioteque, a new producer in the alternative electronic scene.
He started, like many artists, by uploading his music to his *SoundCloud. His first venture into the world of music was a free download of the single "Vendetta" from a music service. Vendetta is also his first record on 140, a style of electronic music that beats at 140 beats per minute and is influenced by genres such as dubstep, techno and drum and bass. He was very well received and as a result his music continues to grow.
Following the success of "Vendetta", Idioteque began releasing more music, most notably the track "Morality" in 2020. The song was released on the Dubstep platform known as DUPLOC and quickly became a favorite among both fans and the sound of the platform itself. . It consists of a static synthesizer, as well as swinging drum beats and the sound of church bells interspersed in the second part of the song. The fuzzy sounding tracks are then selected by the DUPLOC SELECTS platform.
After this success, Idioteque continued to release music in early 2020. In 2022, he released his first mini-album, Keeping You Alive = Killing Me. Indeed, his early compositions included lyrics and vocals from other up-and-coming artists, such as *Sheba Q on the song Salah Selamat. Odyssey', as well as Tolosa's mystical oral poetry in 'Sea View 9'.
Moreover, this newbie producer continued to release singles. One of them, known as "Richie April," even went editorial on Spotify with the help of singer and co-writer Issa Sean.
However, his last two albums, "Brand New Page (feat. *Reptile B)" and "Offering (feat. *Swan Diver)" proved to be his best work.
"Brand New Page" combines synth, guitar and a slightly more spacious drum beat to create an instrumental track. British rapper Reptile B's verse follows before his style takes a darker tone, the darker chorus and Idioteque bridge making the track a very good build.
"This song comes from a poem I wrote recently, which then became the main refrain of the song," the musician explained in the Instagram caption.
“In the tumultuous year that has affected us all, I think of the gradual decline of childhood curiosity and purity, and the complex evolution of adulthood. It was like having a flashback conversation with my younger, more innocent self. I draw parallels between the life cycle of humans and the life cycle of trees turned into paper; characterized by the challenges we face in our existence and how those experiences shape us.
Growing up isn't easy, and it's hard to look back at the innocence of a younger generation without feeling a certain nostalgia for the dark everyday life of adulthood, and the song captures that feeling perfectly.
On the other hand, "Offering" is a new entry in trip-hop, or a musical subgenre described as a fusion of hip-hop, electronic and psychedelic elements to create a spacey, almost lo-fi sound.
Idioteque uses these elements to give his style its own character, using loud drum beats, interesting sound effects and soft, low bass lines. They blend perfectly with acoustic guitar riffs and a distinctive, consistent sound.
"Over time, I feel like I'm getting closer to the music I want to make. Perfecting my sound, seeing more of my main influences emerge, and feeling more creative than ever. "Now that I'm using more guitar and organic recording techniques, I think it's important to keep challenging myself and evolving rather than just doing the same thing over and over," the musician explained in another Instagram caption. post
All of these elements, of course, come from the eloquent hand of artist Georgia Swan Diver, who has intense, moving lyrics and a soulful voice. Lyrical imagery is the song's strong suit, and after scrolling through Swan Diver's Spotify page, it's no surprise that romantic poetry is cited as a major source of inspiration.
The songs depict the narrator's resistance to change and attachment to pain, acting as a struggle between light and darkness and portraying inner turmoil. The narrator wants to escape the pain of his life, but he has become so used to it and loves it that he can barely leave. This is perfectly illustrated in this piece of art created for this purpose by artist Jesse Kilgore.
The electronic producer has also found success outside of the studio, performing at the UK's Project 6 festival earlier this year.
It's clear that Idioteque is on the rise and should be a producer to watch in the electronic scene for years to come.
