It's been two years since OnePlus successfully launched its first smartwatch, OnePlus Watch. The device was probably better suited to be included in the list of best fitness trackers than in the list of best smartwatches. But it seems that the company is not giving up and could launch a new smartwatch in 2024.
It took a while for Max Jambor to publish a post on X (formerly Twitter) about the alleged OnePlus smartwatch. According to the report, OnePlus might be ready to launch OnePlus Watch 2 in 2024. Jambor further adds that the watch will have a round dial.
While we haven't had an reveal window before, we've already heard that a new OnePlus Watch could be on the way. A few weeks ago, a major leak by @realMlgmXyysd revealed that parent company OnePlus was working on a smartwatch called Star. The leak suggests that this Star smartwatch could have variants including OWW231 for the Chinese market, OWWE231 for the global market, and OPWWE231 for the Chinese market. on the global market as a OnePlus brand product.
This round smartwatch is said to have a 466 x 466 resolution display and also has a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip with a BES 2700 coprocessor for low-power operations. The device can have a variety of features including ECG, always-on display, fist gestures, eSIM, blood oxygen measurement, stress monitoring, sleep monitoring, and exercise tracking.
The company's first smartwatch may have been nothing more than a glorified fitness tracker. But it looks like this new device could be the smartwatch we've always hoped for.
