Vivo Y17s: Helio G85 CPU, 50MP Camera, 15W Charging

Vivo has a new entry-level smartphone, Vivo Y17, which they have secretly launched in Singapore.

The new Vivo Y17s has a very simple yet attractive design with a neat camera island isolated by a built-in reflective case. Glitter Purple has an AG texture similar to the Forest Green variant. It also uses 2.5D composite material for a comfortable grip.

But again, this is a basic entry-level phone. It is powered by a regular MediaTek Helio G85 processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. To expand the space there is a slot for microSD memory cards.

On the front panel there is a standard 6.56-inch IPS display with HD+ resolution and a traditional 60 Hz refresh rate. Vivo also claims a maximum brightness of 840 nits.

A 5,000 mAh battery with a relatively slow 15W charger remains included. This battery runs on the current Android 13 operating system with vivo's Funtouch OS 13.

Like most budget phones these days, it comes with a 50MP primary camera coupled with a 2MP depth sensor and an 8MP front-facing selfie camera. Additionally, this product is IP54 certified to protect against accidental splashes of water and dust.

The Vivo Y17s 5G is priced at S$199 (around PHP 8,300) in Singapore and will soon arrive in other Asian countries such as the Philippines.
