  • A new leak suggests that OnePlus is working on a new smartwatch powered by the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor for a global launch.
  • These smartwatches can support eSIM, fist gestures and other health tracking features.

OnePlus has some really interesting phones like the OnePlus Open and the OnePlus 12. But it's surprising that the company avoids putting its name on actual smartwatches. There are original OnePlus watches and a few fitness trackers, but they all come with a basic operating system and don't have their own app store. OnePlus may be planning to change that, as information about its upcoming smartwatch has been leaked. And the good news is that this time it might be a real smartwatch.

Code researcher and consultant @realMlgmXyysd has shared the specs of an upcoming smartwatch from OPLUS (the parent group of OnePlus, OPPO and Realme investors). These smartwatches could take the form of OnePlus Watch and OPPO Watch.

According to them, OPLUS is planning a smartwatch called "star" with possible variants of OWW231 for the Chinese market, OWWE231 for the global market and OPWWE231 for the global market as a OnePlus brand product.

This OnePlus smartwatch is said to have a circular display with a resolution of 466 x 466. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 platform along with a BES 2700 co-processor for low-power functions. It will be black and white, although the white hex is a pastel shade of blue with a low alpha value.

The smartwatch mentions ColorOS for Watch 6.0 based on Android 11GB, but this is only the Chinese variant. In global markets, the smartwatch is likely to run Google's custom Wear OS platform if it has a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor.

The list of smart watch devices includes two control buttons, a winder and a barometer. These will include features like ECG, Always On Display, fist gestures, eSIM, blood oxygen measurement, stress tracking, sleep tracking and health tracking.

We can also observe the numbers, the drawing gesture and the presentation of the main body.

Features such as ColorOS 14 Sound, WeChat RTOS and WeChat Pay are also mentioned, although we think these are likely to be limited to the Chinese market.

The announcer also mentions that there is a round OPPO Watch 4 Pro with Wear OS aimed at the international market.

The presence of Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and eSIM support give us high hopes for the OnePlus smartwatch. If successful, they will give consumers another Android smartwatch option to compete with series like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Google Pixel Watch 2. OPPO recently launched the OPPO Watch 4 Pro (Square) in China . , which has similar specs and form factor, so we're keeping our fingers crossed for an international release.
