Nico Moreno And Insolent Rave Records Drop Driving New Tracks And Tours For Europes Techno Scene
French DJ and producer Nico Moreno is known for fast industrial techno tracks. His label Insolent Rave Records releases his latest album featuring tracks from techno's newest names. His career as an artist, producer and performer strengthened his position on the European art scene.
Nico Moreno's journey from DJ to techno giant
Moreno's first encounter with the French music scene was in a cramped DJ booth. He started his career at the age of 15 mixing EDM, trap and hip hop for local nightclubs in his hometown of Normandy, but dreamed of mixing with artists in the techno scene.
Moreno recalls: “I wanted to dedicate myself to music more than anything else; But it's not easy to get into this field and make a living doing what you love. I can spend my weekdays doing boring part-time jobs and mixing weekends at home.
When Moreno met Axel Picodo, he knew it was time to step out and spread his wings. He wanted to start in the technology industry, but he had to make a difficult decision: either stay under the patronage of the famous nightclubs where he had already made his name, or go in a completely new direction. Immersed himself with Picodot and founded Black/Plug.
"I gained valuable experience as a regular DJ," recalls Moreno. "In the booth, I gained experience in how to mix songs, interact with the crowd and how we think about sounds and songs that people want. As I was exposed to different types of artists, I began to broaden techno songs make."
Moreno holds a place in the European techno scene today thanks to his technical expertise, his relationship with the audience and his completely unique style. When Moreno is asked to describe this unique style in words, he often struggles.
"It is difficult for me to define my own style," he admits. What I play doesn't fit into any genre. I like to mix elements of industrial techno, hard techno, gab, hardcore and acid techno. Like me, many DJs mix many styles to create their own.
Although Moreno's songs defy definition, his original style enjoys widespread popularity. As of mid-August 2023, every top 10 song on Spotify has accumulated more than 1 million streams. For example, "Purple Window" has accumulated 11,854,366 plays, "Insolent Rev" has 5,354,678 plays and "Techno Cry" has shown 3,606,276 views.
