Redmi Buds 4 Active Earbuds Review: One Of The Best For The Price
The Redmi brand stands for affordability. Offering good, versatile products at an affordable price has been the company's unique selling proposition since its inception. The company follows the same strategy across its product line, including audio. Redmi recently launched its new budget earbuds called Redmi Buds 4 Active. I've been using the wireless earbuds for about a week now and I absolutely love them.
The best thing about the Redmi headphones is their price. The price is 1199r. It is one of the cheapest Redmi headphones that you can find in the Indian market. Given the price, it would be unfair to expect a premium offering. So the Redmi Buds 4 Active do a great job for their price. While there's room for improvement, I liked the way the noise-cancellation reduces ambient noise and a few other things.
I've been using the Redmi Buds 4 Active for a few days now and here's what I think of the newly released earbuds. Read the review to find out if the Redmi Buds 4 Active is worth buying for under Rs 1,200.
Design and build of Redmi Buds 4 Active
Like all other headphones at this price point, the Redmi Buds 4 Active don't feel premium. The plastic body makes it lightweight and easy to take with you anywhere. It also fits easily into a jeans pocket and is not bulky. Although the headphones are lightweight, the plastic body feels cheap. However, at this price point you can't expect top-notch design and build, but I think it can offer a basic level of quality.
In terms of design, the Redmi Buds 4 Active look like any other earbuds in this price range. Available in two colors - white and black. The one I use is white and it looks pretty decent. Personally, I would like a black model because the white one gets dirty very quickly. The one I used all had scratches and dark spots so I had to wipe down the lid and buds all the time. But unfortunately I could not remove the scratches. Hence the recommendation to buy a black model.
The Redmi Buds 4 Active offer a minimalist design and a really simple appearance that I like. There is only the Redmi logo on one side of the charging case. It's nice that the magnets work well and the headphones fit well in the case. But growing buds isn't the best you'll find there, but it does the job. Overall, the design is not new, but the optics are very good for the price. The earbuds can be charged via the Android phone cable. The connector is located below the charging case.
Redmi Buds 4 Active comfort and configuration
Now we come to the most important thing when buying a new headphone: the comfort. I used the Redmi Buds 4 Active about 10 days a day and found them comfortable while working or watching web series/movies. But wearing headphones on the go or at the gym can be uncomfortable. When running on the treadmill in the gym, my headphones often fell out of my ears. Because of this, I had to switch to Samsung Galaxy Buds when studying. Now, if you just want to use headphones while working - to drown out the noise of colleagues - or while watching a series/movie on Netflix, the Redmi Buds 4 Active are a good choice. The best part is that it won't hurt your wallet.
The Redmi headphones have Google Fast Pair support, which means that it is very easy to pair the headphones with your mobile device. All you have to do is open the popup and click "Connect". With just one click, Buds 4 Active enable quick and easy Bluetooth pairing with your Android devices. So it's easy. With an iPhone, you must use the built-in Bluetooth option to connect your headphones and phone. This process is also very simple. So, pairing the headphones to your phone isn't difficult.
Voice active and battery Redmi Buds 4
The price is the best thing about the Redmi Buds 4 Active and for this price the headphones offer excellent sound quality. The company claims that the 12mm Bass Pro drivers in the Redmi Buds 4 Active are designed to deliver "unprecedented dynamic sound and powerful bass". And I totally agree with what the company says.
The Redmi Buds 4 Active deliver a very good sound, especially in terms of bass. Low frequencies are reproduced with depth and richness, adding a pleasing sound to your music or movies. Buds 4 Active excel at producing clear bass tones that enhance the overall listening experience. However, it should be noted that distortion can occur at high volume. As a result, turning the headphones on at maximum volume may degrade the clarity of the sound, causing a slight loss of detail and possible distortion to be felt. This is particularly noticeable on titles with complex instrumentation or strong bass lines. For me, the audio worked well at medium volumes. Overall, the Buds 4 Active provide a balanced and pleasant sound.
I really liked how the Redmi Buds 4 Active cut through the surrounding noise. The headphones come with something called "Ambient Noise Cancellation" that blocks out unwanted noise around you. However, what I didn't really like about these headphones were the touch controls. This is because the controls are unresponsive and every time I use my phone to change tracks or pause a song. So it might be a little awkward. The good news is that despite the affordable price, the Redmi Buds 4 Active have an IPX4 rating, which means they have a certain level of water resistance.
One of the best features of the new Redmi Buds is their battery performance. The company states that the earbuds offer "30 hours of battery life" on a single charge. I actively used the headphones to listen to songs and watch movies at work and the headphones worked for me for about 3.5 days without charging. So not having to charge the earbuds every day or two was a relief. The icing on the cake is the fast charging support, which is rare in this price segment. According to the company, the headphones can provide 90 minutes of playback with just 10 minutes of charging.
Redmi Buds 4 Active review: is it worth buying?
Under Rs 1,200, the Redmi Buds 4 Active are some of the best headphones you can find on the market. There's no doubt about it. Of course, there are limitations, but given the competitive price, these can be avoided. Overall, the Redmi Buds offer good value for money, including great sound quality, battery life, and noise-cancelling features. However, the design looks simple, which is the case with most headphones in this price range. I have problems with consistency and cannot use the buds during training. But despite some limitations, the Redmi Buds 4 Active are a very good offer in their price segment.
