Consumer technology company Carl Peil is gearing up for its second smartphone; Now there are rumors that we will soon see smartwatches from the brand.

What Happened: Infamous Indian whistleblower Mukul Sharma shared proof of the existence of the Nothing smartwatch, suggesting that the company could enter the wearables segment in the coming months.

Earlier this year, the company applied to trademark CMF Buy Nothing. This mark is now visible on the product certification list associated with model number "D395", suggesting that it could be a smartwatch.

It is important to note that this proprietary application does not guarantee the actual release of the Nothing smartwatch. However, it shows the intention and desire of the company to enter the smartwatch market. Brands are often acquired to protect a brand's identity, but there's a chance Nothing smartwatches will come along someday.

The connection between the result of this brand and Pei is very clear. Earlier this year, Pei's tweets mentioned that he was using a Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, indicating his interest in the smartwatch segment. While I haven't found a good use or reason for using smartwatches, they still fit in with the company's aspirations for smartwatches. However, the specific nature and methodology of the potential smartwatch is still under wraps.

Given the Nothing design philosophy that emphasizes transparency, one wonders if smartwatches will take the same approach.

The presence of the "CMF" brand is interesting as it usually represents the color, material and finish design process in product development. This has led to speculation about the potential of some opaque products. As more information becomes available, we will soon know the answer to this assumption.
