Vivo X90 Pro First Impressions: A True Flagship Device?
Vivo has launched Vivo X90 series in India which includes Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro. The Vivo X90 Pro is a camera-centric smartphone with a triple rear camera setup that includes a 50MP primary sensor. Highlights of the smartphone include leather finish, 120Hz display and MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chipset. Here are my first impressions of the high-end Vivo X90 Pro smartphone.
cost
For the price, the Vivo X90 Pro comes in a single storage variant that offers 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It costs Rs 84,999 in India. Comes in legendary vegan and black leather.
design
The design of the smartphone is eye-catching and comfortable to hold. The leather back panel makes the phone less slippery than iPhone 14 and Samsung Galaxy S23. The Xtreme Imagination Vivo Zeiss metal band adds some quirky details to the design. In my opinion, they could have done a better job with the brand.
productivity
The device is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chipset and offers up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. According to our usage, the Vivo X90 Pro runs fast and doesn't heat up while gaming. One of the reasons it doesn't heat up is that it comes with a vapor cooling chamber. The MediaTek chip is paired with the Vivo V2's dedicated camera chip. The Vivo X90 Pro runs Android 13 based on the custom FunTouch OS.
camera
The Vivo X90 Pro has a triple-lens rear camera that includes a 50MP IMX866 main sensor, a 50MP portrait lens, and a 12MP wide-angle lens. The smartphone's 1-inch sensor rivals cameras from Canon, Sony, DJI, and more. This sensor does a great job in low light and improves the image with the V2 chip.
It comes with a 32MP front camera for selfies. There are some camera limitations. If you use the front camera at 1080p, it can only reach 60 fps. Optical zoom on the 50MP telephoto lens is limited to just 2x compared to last year's 5x optical zoom.
I can easily say that the Vivo X90 Pro is one of the best smartphone cameras.
The Vivo X90 Pro features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ technology and 1260 x 2800 pixel resolution. The screen looks sharp and will be good for multimedia use. It's very similar to how OnePlus phones looked a few years ago and how Google Pixel phones run Stock Android.
The smartphone is powered by a 4870mAh battery which supports 120W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Can the Vivo X90 Pro replace a DSLR?
From my first experience, maybe not yet. But the fact that it's one of the best competitors to do so, and that it's being talked about alongside pro cameras that cost about 5 times the price of this phone, is a compliment to what vivo is . . He takes care of his basic equipment.
