India, May 14 — The Redmi A2 series is expected to launch in India on May 19 and will include two phones, Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+. With the A2 series already announced elsewhere, we know what to expect from them. There is one major difference between the two devices: the Plus model has a fingerprint reader on the back. We expect these two phones to be identical to their global counterparts.

1. The Redmi A2 series features a 6.52 inch HD resolution LCD screen, 400 nits maximum brightness and a teardrop notch.

2. In the notch is a 5MP selfie camera that can record up to 1080p at 30fps. The rear cameras include an 8MP primary camera and a 0.08MP depth sensor. You can record videos up to FHD at 30fps, even from behind.

3. Inside the phones is a MediaTek Helio G36 chipset with a 5000mAh battery (supports 10W charging). Storage configurations include 2GB RAM + 32GB storage and 3GB RAM + 32GB storage. The phone also supports microSD memory cards. This will be a private slot.

4. The global model features Android 12 Go and MIUI version. However, in India, Xiaomi has announced that the device will ship with Android 13 software (believed to be Go edition).

5. Connectivity options include Micro USB 2.0, WiFi, Dual 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS. You also get FM radio support and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The phone was launched worldwide in Black, Light Blue, and Light Green colours.

As mentioned earlier, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ has a fingerprint sensor on the back, which is missing on the vanilla variant.
